Boise State is pleased to welcome Michelle Edmonds, evening news anchor for 6 on Your Side and Fox 9 News at 9, as the emcee of this year’s Scripps Spelling Bee Regional Competition.
Michelle’s reporting has earned her two Emmys along with the title of Idaho’s Best Anchor from the Idaho State Broadcast Association. She also was named one of the Women of the Year for 2014 by the Idaho Business Review and was added to Idaho’s Most Accomplished Under 40 list.
Michelle has been the driving force in the 6 On Your Side newsroom and on the anchor desk since joining the organization in 2004. Before moving to Boise, her career path included stops at television stations across the country including Pocatello, Grand Rapids and Sacramento.
Michelle earned a bachelor of arts in history with a minor in religious studies at University of California, Davis. She also spent a summer studying politics and theatre in London.
Michelle’s influence is apparent everywhere, but perhaps most notably in the Treasure Valley community. Having two children of her own inspired her to launch the annual Community Baby Shower. For the last decade, Community Baby Shower has helped ensure every Treasure Valley newborn has a happy, healthy start. Michelle gives her time, talents and expertise to dozens of non-profit organizations and sits on the Family Advocates Board of Directors. For her extensive charity work, the Association for Fundraising Professionals honored Michelle with its outstanding media award.
Michelle would not be successful though without the amazing support of her husband Ken and children Camden and Sydney.
